Abundance Population

In modern era, the major problem is too many people living for same unit area in the locality is considered overpopulation and has direct impact on whole ecosystem. Overpopulation happened when the number of the organisms of the same group or species exceeds the accommodating capacity of the environmental condition. Moreover, the main factors of overpopulation are increase in birth or fertility rate, decline in mortality rate, increase in immigration and depletion of resources.

In modernization, with the advancement in science and technology the humanity has affected in many ways like better medical treatment to treat the chronic diseases which ultimately save life and boom the lifespan as well as growth in population. Furthermore, the birth and death rate play a significant role to maintain the population growth rate as well as eco-system cycle. To stabilize population, it is only possible if all nations recognize that it requires improved social and economic conditions, and the adoption of effective, voluntary family planning.

Causes of Overpopulation

Decline in death rate: The population is stabilized when the birth rate and death rate are equal or approximately nearby. The main reason for overpopulation is huge gap between the birth rate and death rate and it happen due to several reason. The decline in death rate happens due to organic food that was founded by our ancestor which gives enough nutrition that is required for our daily life. Moreover, the increase in birth rate is due to lack of literacy and sexual education.

Advancement in Medical Facilities: The industrial revolution plays a important role in increasing the death rate. Firstly, the science and technology assist to develop the innovative ways to cultivate variety of food by utilizing limited resources and eliminating the use of chemicals which are the main cause of diseases in future. Secondly, with the advancement in medical treatment which discovers ways to save life from chronic diseases. For instance, treatment of cancer is possible by surgery with chemotherapy or radiation therapy which was impossible in the past.

Immigration: Nowadays, people are habituated of better quality of life, latest technology and employment so they migrate from one country to another like Australia, Canada and USA. Furthermore, the population remain the same, but the number of people increases in area which results to overpopulation and scarcity of resources. 

Lack of Family Planning: Many people in world are illiterate and due to that they have no knowledge about family planning and live below poverty line. Moreover, they have tradition like child marriage so there is higher possibility of more kids without sexual education.

More Hands in Overcome population: In world, many people live below the poverty line and they don’t have enough money to fulfil necessity. Afterwards, they give more birth due to lack of education and consequence of more birth rate which disturbs the eco-system. These kinds of situation exist mostly in the developing countries and due to that there is high mortality rate.

Technological Advancement in Fertility Treatment: With advancement in science and technology, the medical treatment made it possible for who cannot have their own by undergoing the fertility treatment method and have their own baby. Indeed, with better medical facilities the pregnancy success ratio is higher than before and altogether it increases the birth ratio.

Effects of overpopulation

What does this continuous intensification means? There are several consequences of excess human growth:

Environmental degradation:  The global warming, melting of polar ice cap, change in climate,            more formation of green house gases is common nowadays. These happens because of over use of fossil fuels for electricity generation, more vehicle use; deforestation for more land for residence and many more.

Increase in unemployment: There are limited vacancies available for work, but increase in numbers of worker will result in more jobless people who lead to more crime and social riot.

High cost of living: The cost of living is the most important factor for the country. If population increases, it requires more residential places, food and water to feed them, more health care services. This way all these become costly and not all the families would be able to get all these.

Increase Innovation: Continuous growth of population increase the difference between supply and demand of resources. To serve better, society is being forced to have innovation. For example, high fuel efficient vehicles and machinery were developed to save more fuel and get more work out of machines. Not only that, more number of minds would work on same thing which increase chances of more innovative ways.

Increase Military Strength: If country has more population and stable economy, then the government can work on strengthen military power. More people will help in military can be results in strong power for a country over other small country; also they can work on more invention of military products.  

Solution to Overpopulation

General Education: Having better education to the masses about the importance of having finite family members is key to limit the population growth. If they know the importance of having two or three children instead of four or five and impact of the same on society, make stance to control the population. Also, to make great use of advertise, people need to have general awareness which is possible by educating them well.

Importance of family planning: To control the rapid growth of human density, it is vital to let people know about the effects of overpopulation and make them aware of family planning which can control the birth rate by having various safe sex techniques and avoid unwanted pregnancy.

Sex Education: Generally, parents are bit shy to talk to their child about the sex education, so the sex education should be provided to the children from elementary school level. The teenage children don’t have solid sex education and so they face problems of contraceptives and uncomfortable to get the right information.

Government policy: As we are human and more focuses on money. Some of the countries encourages parent to have one or two children by providing them various incentives such as waiver of certain part of income tax or lowering the rate of income tax who has single or two children. Also, China is the best example as they kept rule of one child for two parents or two children for one parent.
